Karika 39

सूक्ष्माAlternative: सूक्ष्माः मातापितृजाः सह प्रभूतैस्त्रिधा विशेषाः स्युः।
सूक्ष्मास्तेषां नियता मातापितृजा निवर्तन्ते॥ ३९॥

Translation by Henry Thomas Colebrooke (1837): Subtile (bodies), and such as spring from father and mother, together with the great elements, are three sorts of specific objects. Among these, the subtile bodies are lasting; such as issue from father and mother are perishable.

Translation by John Davies (1881): Subtle (bodies), those which are born of father and mother, with the gross forms of existence, are the threefold species (of bodies). Of these, the subtle are permanent; those which are born of father and mother perish.

Translation by Ganganath Jha (1896): Subtle (astral) bodies and such as are produced of parents, together with the gross elements, form the three sorts of specific objects. Of these the subtle bodies are everlasting, and those produced of parents are perishable.

Translation by Nandalal Sinha (1915): The Subtile Bodies, Bodies produced from father and mother, together with the Great Elements, will be the Viśeṣas. Amongst them, the Subtile Bodies are continuant; Bodies produced from father and mother cease (to entangle after death).

Translation by Radhanath Phukan (1960): The Viśeṣa bodies (mark the word Viśeṣa) are three-fold, viz., the (Sūkṣma) subtle body, the gross bodies born of parents and with the great elements (Mahābhūtas); of these, the Sūkṣma body is lasting, while the two bodies born of parents perish.

Translation by Swami Virupakshananda (1995): The subtle bodies, bodies born of parents, together with gross elements are the three kinds of the specific. Of these, the subtle bodies are everlasting and those born of the parents are perishable.

Translation by G. Srinivasan (recent): The field sustained by the fundamental source of energy bonds into three organic genetic or molecular species. The mobile field is constant and controlled and the molecular / genetic states of three categories are cyclic or periodic.
